This rural property includes some delightful but delapidated buildings in its grounds. Our brief is to take a small stone built barn with timber and metal clad additions and transform it into an artist’s studio.
Our clients are keen to incorporate sustainable technologies alongside traditional building techniques. South-facing photovoltaic panels will be concealed from view behind an asymmetric roof and vaulted ceilings will create lofty workspaces, the largest of which will be flooded with north light from a group of rooflights.
A storage deck, wet and dry work areas will be provided within a natural stone, timber and lime rendered exterior, with metal and slate roofs reflecting the buildings’ heritage.
