Volkswagen’s brief for their new National Resource Centre at Blakelands was to provide both formal and informal teaching areas which would offer and encourage voluntary personal learning and development opportunities for some 1200 staff.
Having worked closely with our client in order to develop specific requirements further, RPA Architects’ design solution incorporates extensive library displays, relaxation and breakout areas which link together behind long glazed façades protected from heat gain and sun glare by external brise-soleils.
Access to paved external respite areas is provided and use of the facility can extend into the adjoining courtyard in summer months. Internally furniture, finishes and lighting solutions are carefully selected to encourage use of the facility by providing a welcoming and user-friendly environment.
