Repurposing redundant farm buildings

Breathing new life into disused barns

This redundant farmyard will soon provide eight new homes.

Sustainability is at the heart of national planning policy and the reuse of brownfield sites and disused buildings has to be a good thing. In this instance nearby listed buildings had to be considered along with open country views, but high quality design and attention to detail  persuaded the local planning authority that the scheme was worthy of approval.

Schemes of this sort require us as lead consultants to coordinate the input of a number of specialists in order to consider matters fully and demonstrrate that no harm will be caused. Factors such as ecology, contamination, highway matters, landscape design and drainage are frequently key. We are fortunate to have established a network specialists able to support us in presenting a scheme which addresses these many and varied concerns, and an excellent working relationship with a number of local planning authorities.
